Scope and pricing

Make sure every quote includes the same line items. The fastest way to compare bids is to scope them the same way.

  • Is subfloor repair included if needed, or a change order?
  • Are plumbing or valve relocations included?
  • Is permit cost included, and who pulls it (City of Pittsburgh vs. township)?
  • Is haul-away and disposal included?
  • What's NOT included that often becomes a change order later?

Warranty and workmanship

Manufacturer and labor warranties are different. Both matter.

  • How long is the labor warranty, and is it transferable?
  • What's covered under the materials warranty separately?
  • If something fails in year 3, who do I call?

Crew and schedule

The crew makes or breaks the experience.

  • Will the same crew be on site every day?
  • Are they W-2 employees or subcontractors?
  • How many active Pittsburgh-area jobs is the company juggling this month?
  • What's the lead time from signed contract to start?

Financing

Monthly payment is a marketing number. The APR and term are the actual cost.

  • What's the APR — not just the monthly payment?
  • What's the total interest over the full term?
  • Is there a prepayment penalty?

Not sure which option fits your home? Julia will walk you through a 2-minute guided conversation and show you a personalized remodel profile.

Frequently asked questions

Is it rude to ask for the APR in writing?+

No. Reputable Pittsburgh-area companies expect it. If a company refuses to put financing terms in writing, that's the answer.
