How to Compare Bathroom Remodel Quotes Apples-to-Apples
Three quotes from three companies almost never look like the same project. This is the framework we use to make quotes comparable.
Build a comparison sheet
List every line item across the top: demo, subfloor, plumbing, shower system, glass, fixtures, vent fan, paint, flooring, disposal. Put each company in a column. If a company didn't quote a line item, write "not included." That's the column you need to ask about.
Watch for these common gaps
These are the line items most commonly missing from a low-ball quote.
- Subfloor repair (often a $1,000–$3,000 change order)
- Vent fan replacement
- Drywall repair around the new shower
- Permit fees
- Disposal and dumpster fees
- Paint touch-up around the work area
